Runway rehabilitation
and project completed December 12, 2011 with the second coat of striping paint.
The Runway Rehabilitation Project was
substantially complete by contractor Mercer-Fraser in November with a new 2-inch
asphalt overlay on the active runway. Funding for the project came from a
$499,000 grant from Caltrans and more than $50,000 from Resort Improvement
District #1. Consultants Mead & Hunt provided the contract documents and
inspection services during construction.

The District also
paid an extra $30,000 for resurfacing six parking spaces. Three of the spaces
were overlaid with 2.5-inches of asphalt and three spaces were overlaid with
crushed asphalt grindings taken from the runway transition joints. The
grindings were graded, rolled and sealed with emulsion. This work was not part
of the grant funded base bid and required 100% funding by District reserves.

Striping and
punch-list items are scheduled for December - Check the FSS for NOTAM
